OGP promotes use of ISO

The International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP) has published a new issue of its Standards Bulletin, promoting the collaboration of OGP with ISO and encouraging the oil and gas sector to make use of the suite of ISO International Standards developed for a wide selection of vital oil and gas industry materials, equipment and offshore structures.

By the end of 2008, the suite comprised 138 standards and 19 are planned for 2009.

During an OGP Standards Workshop held in Kuala Lumpur in February 2009, highlighting the utility of ISO International Standards for the industry, Datuk Abdullah Karim, vice-president of Malaysia’s PETRONAS company, commented: “They have helped most of us to realise better returns for our stakeholders and more importantly, they ensure that our operations are safe”. www.iso.org
