NI hosts technical symposiums

August 2009 Training & Education

National Instruments South Africa recently held a series of its 2009 NI Technical Symposiums, the company’s free annual professional development series that reaches 33 countries and 41 cities around the world.

Conferences were held in Cape Town and Midrand and attracted over 300 registrations from engineers, educators and scientists. Attendees had the opportunity to enjoy technical presentations, learn about new products and participate in technology-focused discussions featuring the latest solutions in design, control and test. Topics on the agenda included:

* Extending the graphical system design platform.

* Trends and developments in wireless test.

* Simplifying FPGA programming.

* Ethernet-based industrial communication protocols.

This year’s events also featured guest presentations from Paul van Zyl of SDG Technologies, and Daniel van Schalkwyk of Optimal Energy.

“It was great to see such a strong response to this year’s events at both locations,” said Stephen Plumb, branch manager at NI South Africa. “As we continue to expand the graphical system design platform and increase the power of LabVIEW, the diversity in applications and industries where our technologies are solving complex challenges continues to grow rapidly. This was very evident from the array of guest presentations and attendees at this year’s symposiums. Areas we are seeing NI solutions increasingly deployed range from solar and renewable energy, to advanced monitoring and embedded control, and we appreciate our guest speakers taking the time to showcase some of these applications at the events.”
