HART programming solution for hazardous areas
April 2001
IS & Ex
A long-standing problem has been solved with the release of field instrumentation specialist Endress+Hauser's latest addition - the RN 221 N active barrier - to its family of system components.
Historically, programming 2-wire transmitters in hazardous areas involved costly special equipment, as standard computers and handheld devices are not allowed inside a hazardous area, the RN 221 N now allows for safe and easy remote programming of the connected transmitter from the safe area into the Ex-I area, via its built-in HART communication sockets.

Acting as an isolator that separates input from output, the 22,5 mm barrier guards against any potentially hazardous signals entering the hazardous area. The RN 221 N is ATEX, CSA and FM certified.
