Ethernet Direct has developed the Iguana Series of switches that has a conformal coating that is compliant with MIL-I-46058C standard, protecting the switches against moisture, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes. They are suitable for use in mining, metal, oil and gas, military applications, chemical processing and the food and beverage industries. They can withstand temperatures from -30 to +75°C.
Built in Ethernet Direct Cyber-Ring technology enables multiple switches to be placed in a redundant ring. It detects and recovers from a fibre or copper link failure within 300 ms. There are redundant power inputs, and a relay output feature that can deliver warning signals when dual power or network link failure occurs.
The series is available in six different models, in 5 or 8-port versions, catering for speeds from 10 megabit to 1000 megabit (1 Gigabit). Ethernet Isolation is specified at 1,5 kV rms for 1 minute. They will run from 10 to 30 V d.c. supply sources and power consumption is between 2 and 8 W, depending on the model. Fibre-optic ports (with SC connectors) can send data up to 40 km, depending on the model.
