Pepperl and Fuchs has added a compact single-loop module to its extensive K-system series of intrinsic safety barriers. The company says that while its range of isolators has always fulfilled customer’s plant requirements in the past, a preference for single-loop integrity has become apparent – despite the extra capital outlay.
The 12,5 mm wide KC-modules are the latest generation in the family of DIN rail mountable galvanic isolators. The devices offer the same benefits as the existing K-system, with a broad product range, reliable signal integrity and a modern circuit design that reduces power dissipation keeping the cabinet cooler and ensuring longer life. The KC-module barriers have intrinsically safe outputs and offer full galvanic isolation.
With all the features of the proven 20 and 40 mm wide KF-modules, KC and KF barriers can be mounted on the same power rail making hazardous location applications more economical, simple to design and easy to install. The modules are HART enabled, SIL 2 as standard – and for certain applications, a SIL 3 rated unit is available.
Monitoring is through collective error messaging via the power rail. All modules have LEDs to monitor device status, DIP switches for quick field configuration, removable terminal blocks and large label carriers.
