Isak du Preez, recipient of the 2008 SAIMC University Scholarship Award, has opened the doors of Optrolyte Electronic Design & Research.

Motion Control readers will be particularly interested to know that despite his youth, Du Preez has considerable experience in robotics, image processing and simulation projects, which include:
* Remote-controlled quad-rotor helicopter with automatic stabilisation control.
* Helicopter flight simulator.
* Proof-of-concept auto-localising robot. 
* Multiple trailer reversing algorithm for reversing a truck with up to three trailers.
* Various image processing algorithms.
* Traffic logging micro-terminals.
* Soccer-playing robot with overhead vision system and primitive artificial intelligence (AI).
* Sonic positioning system.
Optrolyte’s stated mission is to provide high quality, affordable services for electronic design, prototyping, software development and related research, focusing on embedded control systems and operations optimisation software. 
The company will undertake design or research work on any exciting electronic engineering project, either in its entirety from concept phase or as an outsourced work package of a larger project.
