Hot exhibition at Richards Bay
April 2001
News
In the midst of one of the countries' industrial capitals, The Control Roadshow in Richards Bay drew visitors from a wide range of industries in the major and surrounding areas. Richards Bay is currently one of the most active areas in the country with regards to new projects with two of the major companies being Iscor and Indian Ocean Fertilisers. Exhibitors and visitors at the Roadshow had the opportunity to network amongst each other on issues relating to these projects and the regular day-to-day control requirements.
For the exhibition day we had 'ordered' a cool overcast day, however somehow the requisition was misread and on 29 March the clouds disappeared to ensure a wonderful sunny day. Under normal circumstances this would have been the perfect day at the sea-side, however the largest hall in KwaZulu-Natal does unfortunately not have airconditioning and for the team of Gautengers this was the perfect setting for a most memorable event.
Fortunately the local folk in Natal defined the weather as a very mild day and the heat did not affect the visitor turnout to the exhibition which was well represented by the control and instrumentation industry. It saw exhibits from local as well as up-country companies such as; ABB Automation, Adroit Technologies, Airtech, Anglo Allied Engineering, Ascoreg, ATI Systems, Atlas Industrial Systems, Autotech Weighing Systems, Bentley & Nevada, Bürkert Contromatic, Dartcom, Des-Pro Technology, Endress+Hauser, Futuristix, Hatch Africa, Ind Auto & Control, Instrotech, Kubler Africa, Loadtech, Measurtronic, PLC Direct, Ramsey Technology, Sperogroup, Tim Controls, Titan Technology, TM Automation, Valve & Automation, Vega Instruments SA, Wika Instruments, Xycom/IPC and Yokogawa SA.
The next exhibition on the PENMAC calendar is in the Newcastle area on 24 May in the sports hall in Newcastle. At this show we will have the opportunity to interact with control and instrumentation users in the iron and steel, chemical, mining and other industries in this area.
