Neles Automation becomes Metso Automation
April 2001
News
The Board of Directors of Metso Corporation has decided to uniform the names for the corporation's business areas. Neles Automation, the corporation's automation and control technology business area, will become Metso Automation. Its target was to have all new names in official use by March this year. The following legal entity names have already been changed at the beginning of this year.
* Metso Automation (parent company).
* Metso Paper Automation.
* Metso Automation Networks.
* Metso Field Systems.
Metso Automation operates worldwide and it has sales and customer support units in 37 countries in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia and Australia. The number of employees is in the region of 4500.
All corporate names will be changed to start with Metso. The company wants these name changes to signal a uniform corporate image and to underline how important the close cooperation between the business areas is to the implementation of the corporation's strategy. Because of their different names, the business areas have often been perceived as different companies, which has blurred Metso's overall image. Uniform names communicate the unique know-how and capabilities Metso is able to offer to process industry customers.
Metso's other businesses are Metso Paper (former Valmet), Metso Minerals (former Nordberg) and Metso Engineering (former Santasalo and Valmet Automotive) and employs over 23 000 people worldwide. Metso's shares are traded on the Helsinki and New York Stock Exchanges.
