Temperature Measurement

8-channel temperature transmitter

January 2009 Temperature Measurement

The iTemp TMT125 is a Foundation Fieldbus protocol temperature transmitter with eight input channels for resistance thermometers, thermocouples, and voltage inputs. It is ideal for any plant using Foundation Fieldbus.

This economical and leading edge solution is ideal for deployment in multitemperature measurement applications such as distillation columns and bio-reactors. The iTemp TMT125 offers numerous benefits and is cost efficient in terms of installation, commissioning and documentation.

The device is fitted with input channels for RTD, TC, Ohm and mV signals and the sensors can be connected to plug-in terminals. For RTD resistance thermometers, connection to 2-, 3- and 4-wire systems is possible. This makes the temperature transmitter highly versatile and usable in a number of applications.

The iTemp TMT125’s versatility is further showcased in its installation options. It can be mounted on a top hat DIN rail and is available with aluminium field housing. This field housing can be screwed directly onto a wall. Due to the IP67 protection classification, this housing can also be installed outside. Stainless steel M16 cable entries guarantee safe entry of the sensor cable.

The iTemp TMT125 can be installed in areas with ambient temperatures ranging from -40°C to 70°C. The device complies with ATEX II2 (1G/D) EEx ia IIc T4 and FM/FMC IS NI/I/1+2/ABCD/T4 standards for application in hazardous environments. The device also conforms to the FISCO model which ensures that fieldbus applications in hazardous areas are easily completed and without additional costs.

The iTemp TMT125 offers added security and reliable operation. Error messages such as cable open circuit, short circuit, wiring error, and hardware faults, are automatically recognised. The error message is transmitted to the fieldbus and indicated on-site by flashing red LEDs. The fieldbus status LED also indicates faults on fieldbus communication by flashing.
