Infrared temperature measurement for the steel industry.
Having recently joined forces to become one of the worlds' largest suppliers of infrared temperature measurement equipment, Raytek and Ircon are able to offer non-contact infrared thermometers and scanners that cover every aspect of temperature monitoring in the steel manufacturing processes.
Temperature readings show whether processes are operating within their proper ranges; whether a re-heater is too cold or too hot, whether a stand needs adjusting or how much cooling should be applied. Each stage can be accurately monitored so the steel retains correct metallurgical properties as it travels through the milling process.
Every section of the steel manufacturing process can benefit from infrared thermometers. These benefits include:
* Higher quality products.
* Increased productivity.
* Reduced energy costs.
* Enhanced worker safety.
* Reduced downtime.
* Easy data recording.
Simultaneous analogue and digital output allows temperature data to be integrated into a closed loop control system and simultaneously output for remote temperature monitoring and analysis. The smart sensors, with digital electronics and two-way communications, can be configured remotely from the safety of the control room – especially important for metals with changing emission properties. The result: increased functionality and greater control.
A wide range of optics, including a remote controlled variable focus, covers an enormous variety of applications. This is supported by integrated through-the-lens sighting plus either laser or video sighting for correct target location.
Both Raytek and Ircon infrared detectors are found in all sectors of the steel-making process and more specialised units for specific applications are continuously being introduced. The range of thermal scanners and on line thermal imaging has improved and now includes applications such as: torpedo car inspection; coke car inspection; coke quenching and high-speed rod or wire mills.
Solutions for the steel industry
* One- and two-colour infrared thermometers.
* Short wavelength (low temperature) thermometers.
Test bench for temperature calibrating power semiconductors Beckhoff Automation
Temperature Measurement
Precise temperature characteristics are essential for performing power cycling tests on power semiconductors. Infineon Technologies determines these characteristic curves on a test bench using PC-based control. As a result, calibration has become more precise and the efficiency of the entire test laboratory has increased significantly.
