Certified rewinder programme partnership

December 2008 News

When SKF introduced the SKF Certified Rewinder Programme to the South African market in December 2006, Delba Electrical was the first officially audited and approved company to receive the certification. David Balocco, Delba Electrical managing director, viewed the rewinder programme not only as a way of strengthening the company’s four-decade relationship with SKF South Africa, but also as a means of reinforcing its longstanding and respected involvement and commitment to providing high quality products and services.

“The result of the certification has proved to be a successful and positive move,” says David. “This partnership with SKF has projected a strong, positive market image. The certification also brought other bonuses. Not only do we have full access to SKF’s wide array of support resources, but we have enjoyed phenomenal support from the SKF technicians as well as from Bearing Services Springs, an SKF authorised distributor and division of Bearing Services Africa. Bearing Services Springs works closely with Delba and supplies almost 100% of their bearings, seals and related product requirements. Manager of Bearing Services Springs, Michele Coetzee, and her staff are always on standby with technical assistance, advice and a full range of SKF products and services”.

SKF supports the rewinder certification with well structured, technically advanced and on-going training programmes. According to Delba Electrical executive director, Armando Balocco, Delba’s workshop technicians have benefited massively from the training programme. Armando explains, “We are the first to admit that training is always needed and our company benefits greatly from the SKF training programme. The focus is on the importance of bearings in diverse applications and our technicians are kept conscious and appreciative of the function of correct fitting, lubrication and maintenance.”

“Through the SKF Certified Rewinder Programme, we have reached our joint objective of improving motor repair effectiveness, ensuring that customers benefit by improved productivity and lower total cost of ownership,” explains David. We have certainly gained prestige and our employees are committed and part of the programme. The 3-way partnership between principal, distributor and end user has been mutually beneficial and has brought all three companies additional market share and with SKF behind us, we look forward to being an integral part of South Africa’s energy efficiency drive,” concludes David.
