Emerson announces changes

John M. Berra, president of Emerson Process Management, has announced a number of leadership changes to take place over the next few months. Effective from 1 October, 2008, Steven A. Sonnenberg will become executive vice president of Emerson and business leader of Emerson Process Management, serving as president. Berra, who has been business leader since 2000, is taking a new role as chairman of Emerson Process Management to focus on strategic planning, technology, key customer relationships and organisational planning.

“Steve is an integral member of the Emerson management team and has long played a strong role in growing Emerson Process Management’s leading position around the world,” Berra said. “I am excited for the future of this business under his leadership.”

Berra announced additional changes to the Emerson Process Management structure including:

* Michael H. Train, president of Emerson Process Management Asia Pacific, will become president of Rosemount and will return to the United States from Singapore. He joined Emerson in 1991 as an international planner.

* Sabee Mitra, president of Emerson Process Management Middle East has been named president of Emerson Process Management Asia Pacific and will move to Singapore. Mitra began his career at Emerson in 1996 as a marketing manager and has risen through a series of increasingly responsible positions.

* David A. Tredinnick, vice president Southeast Asia for Emerson Process Management Asia Pacific, will move to Dubai and replace Mitra as president of Emerson Process Management Middle East. Tredinnick began his career at Brooks Instrument in 1980 as service manager.

* Gene Shanahan, group vice president for the Emerson Process Management Flow Group will retire on 1 October, 2008 after 21 years of service to Emerson. Shanahan came to Emerson with the Dieterich Standard acquisition in 1996, and has led the Flow Group over the last three years.

* Larry W. Flatt will replace Shanahan effective from 1 October, 2008. Flatt began his career at Emerson in 1979 as an employee relations supervisor for the special products division.

“Emerson Process Management has a strong management team and I am confident that these new assignments and responsibilities will continue to provide a solid foundation of leadership for future growth,” Berra said.
