The safe way to protect electronic equipment under industrial conditions.
Schneider Electric has announced the immediate local availability of its popular range of variable speed drives in IP54 enclosures.
Available either as a standard offer with two combinations, namely: the compact and the separate airflow versions; or as a flexible engineered solution with a host of options, the new IP54 enclosures have been designed with the specific aim of providing a higher degree of protection for customer equipment.
“Our customer’s environments are changing and it is with this in mind that we needed to look at our existing enclosure offerings and ensure they are able to adapt with these changes, whether they be environmental or industrial,” says Sean Naudé, product manager VSD and motion at Schneider Electric South Africa.
Compact version
Clients looking for a cost effective enclosure can take advantage of the compact version of the Schneider Electric offering. This range of enclosures offers a variety of new and advanced features. These include: air inlets through the cubicle door for improved air flow; air outlets in the top of the cubicles and improved air inlet temperature ranges of 0°C through to 40°C, with optional cubicle heating.
This choice also has smaller dimensions making it a better fit for customers with space constraints and demands. Another addition to the line is the silent cooling fan (65–86 dBA) that is able to accommodate diverse drive ratings.
Separate airflow
For more sensitive environments that demand better temperature control the separate airflow version is the best selection. Better temperature control is achieved via an air inlet for the power section through the plinth as well as an air outlet through the cubicle roof. The control section is cooled through a separate set of filter fans that are housed in the cubicle door, or by an optional airconditioning system which can be added for more demanding environments.
Notable new benefits include the fact that the cooling air for the power component is now separate from the rest of the cubicle; allowing the product to provide optimal protection of sensitive equipment in dusty environments.
“I believe the new range of enclosures has been designed not only with the customer’s existing needs in mind, but their future demands as well. The enclosures are able to cater for a variety of changing demands and are scalable and adaptable for multiple environments,” adds Naudé.
Depending on customer requirements versions of the enclosures are available with either line or DC chokes. Both versions are available in:
* Standard cubicle.
* Customised cubicle.
* Flexible cubicle offerings.
Each of these includes improved cooling for better efficiency at reduced dimensions.
