The IFC 100 is the new signal converter for Krohne’s Optiflux product family of electromagnetic flowmeters.
IFC 100 compact 0° version
IFC 100 is targeted at common applications in the water, food and chemical industries. The signal converter has a measuring inaccuracy of 0,3% and will have all required approvals.
The IFC 100 offers excellent performance with an optimum price/performance ratio. This signal converter has been developed for applications requiring an economical solution at a high-quality technological level. The extensive functionality of the previously introduced IFC 300 signal converter formed the ideal reference point.
Diagnostics
The signal converter’s standard functionality enables diagnosis of the instrument’s performance, as well as its installation and the process itself. To this end the IFC 100 includes the following diagnostic functions:
* Firstly, the electrode resistance is measured, based on which conductivity value, electrode scaling and electrode fouling can be determined.
* Secondly, electrode noise is measured. This indicates the allowed volume of gas bubbles and solid particles (up to 3% for both to secure an accurate measurement) and also indicates proper chemical resistance of the electrode material against the fluid flowing through the pipeline.
* Finally, the coil resistance is monitored in order to diagnose the quality of the magnetic field and the flowmeter temperature value.
User friendliness
The units are available in both compact (converter mounted directly on the flow tube) and separate (converter mounted separately from the flow tube) versions. To ensure optimum readability and operation in both vertical and horizontal pipelines, Krohne designed two different compact versions: the 0° version is ideal for vertical pipelines; whereas the 45° version makes sure that the display remains readable under all circumstances when the flowmeter is installed in horizontal pipelines.
The backlit display realises excellent readability from a distance. The four pushbuttons on the soft-keypad allow easy operation, start-up and parameterisation.
Both compact housing versions can be rotated in 90° increments, quickly allowing customer-specific installation positions. Other benefits include:
* Outstanding price/performance ratio.
* Quick and easy to install and operate.
* Diagnostics of product, application and instrument.
* Large, illuminated graphic display with intuitive operation.
