Siemens Industry Automation and Drive Technologies has developed new Logo! logic modules for the 0BA6 series. The logic modules are small control computers below the level of complex PLCs, which Siemens says are significantly more powerful than their predecessor modules. With 200 function blocks, the memory capacity is 50% larger than before, and the analogue inputs and high-speed counters (at 5 kHz) have been doubled to four. The new separate text display can be connected directly to the basic device and installed up to 10 metres away.
The new Logo! 0BA6 series logic modules are suitable for universal use in industry and in building systems, with diverse applications ranging from lighting and access controls through to aquarium systems, trash compactors, feeding systems in cattle rearing and right up to pumping stations.
The new text display has four lines with 12 characters each. 50 different four-line messages can be configured, with expanded display options such as ticker text, bar graph or toggle parameters. The message on the external text display is independent of that on the internal text display. For example, messages relevant to operation can be displayed on the separate text display, and service-related information can be displayed in the control cabinet.
The new logic modules and the internal and external display are configured with the Logo! SoftComfort V6 software. New function blocks for arithmetic and pulse width modulation expand the application options. Existing expansion modules can be used with the new basic devices, as well as already created programs.
