Efficient nozzles save compressed air

In a typical application: galvanised steel sheet has to be cleaned of loose zinc particles as part of the final rolling operation. An air manifold having 42 eighth-inch open pipe nozzles had been installed across the width of the sheet metal, blasting it with compressed air at 550 kPa (5,5 bar). While this arrangement was effective in its task, it was unacceptably wasteful of compressed air and extremely noisy (99 dBa).

Exair model 6013 high velocity air jets were installed in the existing pipe nipples, resulting in a 30% reduction in air consumption. In addition to this, the noise level was reduced to 90 dBa - a 300% reduction in sound pressure level. The air jets are available in a range of sizes, and there is also a range of accessories.
