KwaZulu-Natal Industrial Trade Show on track for 2001

March 2001 News

Arrangements for the 2001 KZN Industrial Trade Show, the region's premier dedicated industrial event, are well on track with almost 80% of exhibitor space already sold, reports Reed Exhibition's GM for KZN & the Cape, Janet Coom.

"Companies intent on retaining or growing market share in the face of fierce competition favour this event as it attracts a high percentage of decision-makers. It also provides those shopping around with an opportunity to view a variety of new industrial developments under one roof," says Ms Coom.

An established biennial event since 1984, the KZN Industrial Trade has earned a sound reputation for delivering quality business contacts that enable suppliers targeting the region to effectively promote technology and launch new products. Ongoing research has seen the organisers refine their promotional campaign to attract a high calibre of visitor through the doors.

"Global trends indicate that marketers have rediscovered the importance of brand-building and brand loyalty to ensure they can compete successfully in the marketplace. Exhibitions like the KZN Industrial Trade Show provide an excellent opportunity of reaching a large percentage of potential clients, within a designated area, cost-effectively," she adds.

The exhibition provides a dedicated showcase for a wide range of industrial technologies including electrical/electronic, mechanical/materials handling, chemicals/plastics, business solutions, safety, health and environmental technology. Sponsored by Ithala Development Finance Corporation Limited, the event will run at the Durban Exhibition Centre from 29 May 29 to 1 June 2001.

Commenting on Ithala's involvement, Executive Director Shabir Chohan says: "As KZN's development finance corporation, Ithala has for more than 20 years actively promoted and facilitated industrial, commercial and tourism development, and provided support for entrepreneurship in the small, medium and micro enterprise (SMME) sectors in this region."

"During this time Ithala has become a major role-player and, as the region's single largest industrial property owner, actively attracts local and international business investment to KZN. This helps create new employment opportunities, promotes economic growth and facilitates the introduction of new technologies. Our association with a business exhibition of the calibre of the KZN Industrial Trade Show will assist us to encourage further development in the region."
