The dramatic rise in the price of copper cable is causing more engineers to explore the use of telemetry for control and data acquisition solutions over long distances. By combining medium to long range wireless Ethernet buses with the Acromag 12° range of input/output modules Allpronix has simplified the problem and made a cost effective solution available.
With a range of analogue and digital I/O modules that can be mapped indiscriminately over a local area network, the system can reproduce inputs at one location as outputs at another. These modules can also be read and written to by PLC or scada systems, halving the amount of I/O required. Embedded Web Browser software in the modules means that no extra software need be purchased. Two versions of the modules are available with information being transferred as either Modbus TCP/IP or Ethernet IP at 10/100 MBps.
The 2,4 GHz, 802.11b/g/n Standard compliant industrial grade wireless access points are housed in IP65 enclosures and are readily configured to fit existing or new Ethernet networks. They are powered by a 220 V A/24 V DC power-over-Ethernet adaptors and plugged into the unit via RJ-45 connectors sealed by a weatherproof gland. P.O.E. network surge arrestors protect the plant side of the network while lightning surge arrestors protect the access points. The wireless bridges have an integral 17 dBi flat panel antenna allowing directional connectivity up to 15 km with direct line of sight. All security features such as WEP and WPA encryption are available as standard to enhance network security. As with the Acromag modules the software is embedded in these devices.
