Lascar Electronics has introduced the EL-USB-RT realtime USB temperature and humidity monitor. The unit is designed to measure temperature and relative humidity from -10 to +60°C and 0 to 100% RH. When connected to a PC installed with the purpose-designed software; temperature, humidity and dew point can be displayed in realtime or saved for later processing.
The user friendly control software runs under Windows 2000, XP and Vista. In addition to latest reading display in the Windows toolbar, functionality is provided for graphing and printing of current or historic data files. The data can also be exported to other applications for further analysis and report generation.
Users can assign high and low alarms for both temperature and humidity, and the software can be configured to send e-mail alerts as these levels are exceeded. This feature is particularly useful for server room monitoring, where keeping the servers and other network equipment in a controlled environment helps eliminate downtime and minimises the risk of damage to expensive equipment. Audible alarms can also be generated via the PC's internal speaker.
