The microprocessor-controlled converters and switching instruments of the Jaquet FT1400 series are for monitoring measured variables as a function of time, such as rotational speed, clock rate, etc. The input signals are in the form of a frequency that is proportional to the speed being monitored.

The 1400 family consists of the frequency/current converter FTW1413, the combined tachometer converter/frequency relays FTFW1422 (two setpoints) and the FTW1424 (four setpoints). There is a two-line LCD display and a six-key keypad to enter and display all the parameters and an RS232 serial interface. The measuring range and limits may be entered and displayed in m/min, l/min, etc.

There is a choice of current or voltage output - with rising or falling characteristic. The output signal has 12 bit resolution and the instrument exhibits a fast response for overspeed shutdown (1 period of input frequency +5 ms). These new models exhibit improved RF interference and power line immunity. The upper and lower switching points of each of the four setpoint limits are individually programmable.

Integrated monitoring of two and three-wire sensors is included, with permanent display of the measured value and the relay positions. Upper and lower limits for the sensor current consumption can be set anywhere in the range from 0 to 70 mA, allowing the instrument to detect failure of sensors, or cable breaks.

Triggering of the start-up bridging is programmed via two binary inputs. Binary Input 1 is used for selectable controlling functions such as resetting of relays, or the external switching between two programmable setpoints. Binary Input 2 selects the external power supply voltage.
