For machine to machine (M2M) communications, Satel offers its wireless M2M package which comprises two or more Satelline-1870 radio modems, two I-Link 100 I/O converters and the necessary power supplies, cables, antennae and software.
Thanks to its small size and low output power consumption the Satelline-1870 is particularly well suited for internal applications within factories. This radio modem uses the Pan-European free 868-870 MHz frequency band. Due to the limited output power the communication distances are from 2 to 5 km as maximum depending on surroundings. The range of the radio modem network can be extended by using repeater stations.
The modem has an RS232 interface that can be connected to a terminal with a ribbon cable or by wiring a D9 connector.
The I-Link 100 I/O converter, used in conjunction with Satelline radio modems, facilitates transparent transfer of contact information or analogue signals from one location to another. In the point-to-point operating mode the connection is between two points. This I/O link can also be used in a point-to-multipoint mode, for transfer of information between a master station and several slave stations.
The I-Link 100 has four digital I/O ports with built-in relays and two analogue I/O ports. For more I/O capacity, up to three extension modules can be added.
The dedicated I-Link PC software for Multipoint operating mode facilitates easy system monitoring as well as configuring of the I-Link 100 parameters to match the system requirements.
