GE Fanuc software receives SAP certification
November 2007
News
GE Fanuc Automation has achieved 'Powered by SAP NetWeaver' certification for Manufacturing. The certification demonstrates GE Fanuc Automation's commitment to integration of its Production Management software with SAP applications to enable key business initiatives, such as Lean Six Sigma, regulatory compliance, performance optimisation and pursuit of the Perfect Plant.
"The certification combines GE Fanuc Production Management Software with SAP xMII to gather, analyse and execute realtime order information; and continuously improve plant performance, productivity and profitability," explains Daniel Coetzee, manager, Africa for GE Fanuc Automation.
SAP xMII unifies integration technologies into a single platform and is pre-integrated with SAP business applications, enabling organisational flexibility and reducing the need for custom integration.
The resulting composite application delivers realtime visibility and intelligence to improve agility, quality and efficiency by tracking and executing production operations through a closed-loop information exchange with SAP applications.
"Aligning ourselves with SAP's Adaptive Manufacturing vision and receiving this certification is important," says Coetzee. "The value to be gained through these integration efforts is substantial. By utilising the combined solutions and expertise of our two companies, our customers will be able to move in ways, and perform at levels, their competitors cannot match. Those capabilities can transform a business."
The combination of the two companies' software provides manufacturers with flexible, reliable and responsive manufacturing operations linked tightly with global value chains:
* Improving top-line revenues with better supply chain predictability, capacity management and quality management.
* Improving the bottom line and operational reliability by reducing costs and improving quality and operational efficiencies.
* Making plant-level optimisation a reality.
* Empowering innovation by improving launches of new products and processes.
* Establishing strategic advantages by improving capital cost structures.
"With more direct access to SAP NetWeaver education and knowledge transfer resources and insider previews of new SAP technology we will be able to speed integration between user systems, decrease total cost of ownership and increase the benefits achieved through integration, such as lower inventory and faster time to market," Coetzee continues.
"Management needs quality information to make the best decisions. Two challenges dominate today: achieving common metrics to drive manufacturing best practices across the enterprise, and integrating this degree of information into the organisation's enterprise systems to increase production flexibility. The time for a corporate approach to Production Management systems has come - and the relationship between SAP and GE Fanuc Automation will significantly help manufacturers overcome these challenges and improve their business performance."
