Metal-seated quarter-turn valve with zero leakage

February 2001 Valves, Actuators & Pump Control

When launched 25 years ago, the Vanessa Series 30.000 from Tyco Valves & Controls was considered the world's first metal-seated quarter-turn rotary process valve offering bi-directional, zero leakage operation at full differential pressures.

Still combining the durability of gate valves with the superior performance of quarter-turn valves, this robust valve is well-suited to arduous high-pressure and temperature services, on steam and process applications in chemical, petrochemical, offshore, oil and gas industries.

The combination of a non-rubbing resilient metal seal ring and seat with torque sealing ensures zero leakage under pressures as high as ANSI Class 900 and temperatures from cryogenic -196 to 815°C. Offering superior wear resistance to abrasion and temperature changes with Stellite seat, bearing protectors and a Duplex 318 seal ring, the valve also reduces maintenance requirements, minimising the costs and inconvenience of downtime.

Incorporating fully adjustable stem packing, the Vanessa Series 30.000 prevents leakage to the atmosphere, avoiding product loss and pollution, whilst eliminating risks to the operator and the plant. The valve is available in a range of body designs including double flanged in accordance ISO 5752 and ANSI B16.10, and wafer and wafer lugged in accordance with API 609.

Its compact design offers significant weight and space savings over traditional gate valves, enabling it to be installed, removed and maintained with relative ease. Direct mounting of a quarter-turn electric, hydraulic or pneumatic actuator permits fast and efficient local or remote operation.
