Mean Well Enterprises has expanded its DC/DC low wattage product line with the release of the NSD05 series of 5 W on-board DC/DC converters. Along with the NSD-10 (10 W) and NSD-15 (15 W) series, this equipment targets the emerging trend of distributed power applications. The new converters feature nominal DC input levels of 12 V (9,2~36 V d.c.) and 48 V (18~72 V d.c.), user-selectable DC output levels of 3,3 V, 5 V, 12 V, and 15 V and 1500 V d.c. input/output isolation. Standard features include remote ON/OFF control, integral EMI filter, short-circuit, overload, and over-voltage protection.
Design of NSD05 is in accordance with IEC60950-1 and CE. The CB test report issued by TUV is also available. The converter can be operated under free air convection in ambient temperatures between -25~70°C without adding any heatsink. This helps to keep the cost lower than that of other 5 W encapsulated models in the market. These economical devices are suitable for applications using distributed power architecture that transfer the high DC bus voltage to lower DC working voltage at the location of the load.
The compact converter (40,6 mm ' 25,4 mm ' 7,9 mm) undergoes a 100% full load burn-in test and carries a 2-year warranty.
