Flowmetrix at Sustain 2007

August 2007 News

Flowmetrix SA will be exhibiting at Sustain 2007, where it plans to have working systems on show. The company manufactures a wide range of flowmeters and flow switches for industrial and infrastructural applications. Manufactured products include the Safmag and β Meter range of electromagnetic flowmeters, DFM2 Doppler flowmeter, DFS Doppler flow switch and the PDFM2 portable Doppler flowmeter. Electromagnetic flowmeters are manufactured in sizes 10 mm to 800 mm whilst the Doppler meters are designed for pipes from 25 mm upward.

Flowmetrix also represents Eesiflo clamp-on meters, Kessler Ellis Products (KEP), J-TEC Vortex flowmeters and Smartcell GSM telemetry equipment. To back up their product offering Flowmetrix offers on-site technical support and flow verification services. The company is ISO Certified to ISO 9001:2000.

The company's products are frequently used in applications related to water treatment, distribution, wastewater and effluent processing in systems that manage sustainable water use.

Safmag electromagnetic flowmeter

This is a maintenance-free industrial flow measurement device. The Safmag can accurately measure fluids with conductivities of 5 μSiemens/cm and above to an accuracy of better than ±0,5%. Advantages of using electromagnetic flowmeters include unrestricted pipe cross-section and operation that is independent of density and fluid viscosity. Performance is unaffected by changes in process pressure, temperature and fluid conductivity. All of this, plus a linear output signal, make the Safmag suitable for a wide variety of flow metering applications.

β Meter electromagnetic flowmeter

The β (beta) Meter uses the long proven non-intrusive principle of electromagnetic induction to measure flow to accuracies of ±0,5%. The meter has no moving parts and introduces zero head loss. Readings are independent of density, temperature, viscosity and pressure. The β signal converter incorporates state-of-the-art electronic components and a high-speed microprocessor for accuracy and reliability.

Doppler devices

Doppler flowmeters and flow switches are non-intrusive instruments that can be used for the measurement and control of liquids flowing through process and effluent pipelines. Typical media include liquids, including aerated water, liquids containing suspended solids, slurries and sludges. For the Doppler principle to operate, fluids require a minimum concentration of 0,1% of solids or bubbles having minimum size of 100 microns. As there are no process connections required, Doppler devices are quick and easy to install, suffer no sensor fouling, and require no maintenance and no downtime for sensor installation.

The DFM2 is a microprocessor-based flowmeter that includes a relay with adjustable high and low setpoint control, totaliser output and signal loss alarm. The flowmeter display indicates flow rate and total volume.

The DFS2 switch can be used on a variety of metal and plastic pipes. The switch includes a relay with adjustable high and low set point control and adjustable delay timers. Flow ranges are selectable for 0-2 m/s or 0-6 m/s. Flow rate is indicated on a 10 LED bar graph flow indicator.

The PDFM2 portable Doppler flowmeter is a handheld microprocessor-based meter and is particularly useful as a temporary flow indicator or as a working tool to establish flow conditions in field or plant installations.
