All the wetted parts of the Richter range of valves are PTFE or PFA lined for acid resistance. Where very aggressive media is present the liner thickness on the valve can be increased to cater for this. The standard liner is 3 mm thick and the high permutation liner is 5 mm thick.
As a consequence, Richter is in position to provide a comprehensive fluid technology range from one source for chemical, pharmaceutical and petrochemical process engineering, water management, food processing, mining and metal-working, the paper and pulp industry and many other industrial applications.
The product range is intended for use with difficult fluids regardless of whether they are corrosive, hazardous or, on the other end of the spectrum, pure or ultra-pure. Pumps and valves intended for these uses must be highly resistant to corrosion but, at the same time, must not impart any contamination to the fluids being transported.
A traditional, albeit expensive, solution to the problem of transporting such aggressive fluids has been to use special metals and alloys such as Hastelloy, tantalum, Monel and nickel, to resist corrosion.
The more cost-effective Richter solution is to line their chemical process, frame-mounted and special pumps, shut-off, control and safety valves with corrosion-resistant plastics and ceramics contained in metallic pressure-resistant housings. Such linings are not only corrosion-resistant and non-contaminating, but they are easy to clean, can contain highly permeating media and be used for fluids which cannot come into contact with metals.
To maintain control of quality, the company manufactures the plastic components in-house, in accordance with ISO 9001/EN29001. The company's shut-off, safety, sampling and check valves, sight glasses and control equipment is likewise manufactured to an extremely high standard. The units are available to ISO/DIN PN16/PN25 and ASME/ANSI CL 150 and 300 lbs for operating temperatures between -60 and 200°C.
The component bodies are manufactured from ductile cast iron or stainless steel and are lined by thick-walled vacuum resistant linings of PFA, PTFE, or PFA-P - a highly permeation resistant and anti-static fluoroplastic. The units can be fitted with many different types of actuators, control and monitoring components, as required by the client.
