Symposium on explosion prevention technology

The South African Flameproof Association (SAFA) is holding a symposium entitled 'Symposium on explosion prevention technology - the practical approach!' This will be held on Thursday, 19 July 2007 at Graceland Hotel, Secunda, Mpumalanga from 08h00 to 16h00.

This symposium is validated by SAFA for one CPD credit point.

The following will be presented:

* Power drive systems used in potentially explosive atmospheres - factors to consider: Frieder Endrejat.

* 'Off the shelf' Ex certification of WEG motors and VSD combinations: Johan van Niekerk.

* Inspection and maintenance of equipment used in explosive atmospheres - refinery audits for classified areas/equipment: Johan van Zyl.

* Minimum documentation requirements of motors repaired for a hazardous environment in order for plant owners to adhere to legal requirements: Dennis Willemse.

* Accreditation, authority, legality and competencies of RSA Test houses: Anthony Coutinho.

* The Ex regulatory environment - a technical perspective: Kim Pratley.

* Introduction to IS in hazardous areas: Roelof Viljoen.

* Cable entries in hazardous areas - a risk based approach on selection, installation, inspection and maintenance of cable terminations in hazardous areas: Arthur Cameron.
