With orders of R8m in hand for locally designed and manufactured tube leak detection systems for power station boilers, Instrotech has received additional orders for supply over the next two years totalling another R6m.
The new orders for 11 Inspecta FFT systems come from India. This will bring the total number of systems installed on Indian power stations to 25.
As part of Eskom's power station refurbishment programme, Kriel is to install two systems on each of six boilers over the next nine months. Hendrina has also ordered four systems for use on 10 boilers with delivery staggered up to the end of this year. Other power station orders being processed are for Camden, Komati and Grootvlei.
"Eskom's return-to-service projects and the upgrading of existing control system equipment to enhance performance and flexibility, is generating good orders for Inspecta. With 140 systems installed in 22 years since development, the orders for 40 currently in hand are a huge manufacturing challenge," says Instrotech director Robert Howcroft.
The computer-based tube leak detection systems monitor for leaks in boilers using up to 32 microphones to 'listen' for sound pattern changes. The progress of detected leaks can be monitored on-screen to plan for maintenance shutdowns.
