Programmable control relay supports Ethernet

Can you guarantee total availability of your automated systems?

Schneider has introduced the Zelio Logic range of compact programmable control relays.

Says Schneider Electric's product manager, Kruben Bennie: "The Telemecanique Zelio Logic smart relays are designed for use in small automation systems comprising 10 to 40 I/O. They are suitable for applications in all types of installations or on repetitive machines, both in the industrial sector, finishing machines and assembly machines, and the services sector such as alarm, barrier, and access control automation systems, which require simple logic processing."

The devices are available in two ranges - Zelio Logic Compact and Zelio Logic Modular. The former comprises three monobloc models and is designed for simple automation systems comprising up to 20 I/O while the latter provides higher performance and up to 40 I/O.

Communication and I/O extension modules can be added to the Modular bases for Modbus (slave) or Ethernet (server) as well as analog inputs.

The programmable control relays are programmed using the integral buttons and LCD display on the device, or via the intuitive interface of the Zelio Soft programming software which as an extensive library of drag and drop pre-programmed functions.

The programming software supports function block diagram (FBD) programming or contact language (ladder diagram). To provide safer programming, simulation and monitoring modes test the program in realtime, with or without the smart relay connected to the PC.

The Bluetooth interface provides wireless connection between the PC and smart relay, avoiding cumbersome connections. This makes programming, simulation, loading and programme modifications, as well supervising the installation, possible even in the most restricted places.

It is also easy to connect automation system equipment such as displays and PLCs using the Modbus or Ethernet communication options. The communication interface, connected between a smart relay and modem (analog or GSM), enables remote monitoring and control of installations and mobile phone SMS alerts. This helps to avoid unnecessary on-site visits, define maintenance priorities and perform pre-diagnostics.
