Advantech's eAutomation Group has extended its robust Touch Panel Computer (TPC) product line by introducing the new TPC-66S, a 5,7" QVGA STN LCD. This new model provides an industrial-grade, ultra slim design TPCs with the same light form factor as its predecessors, but now also featuring RoHS compliance.
The new model features many innovative features including a RISC kernel, the Intel XScale PXA processor (which consumes minimum power without sacrificing performance) and an LCD panel offering high 400 cd/m² luminance. Like other TPC products, it is designed for harsh environments, and has an IP65 compliant front panel.
Designed to run applications under Microsoft Windows CE .NET, or as a thin-client, it comes equipped with 64 MB flash memory, and a CompactFlash slot for vibration resistant storage. The TPC-66S has a complete I/O interface that features three serial ports (two full RS232, one 4-pin RS232/RS485), one Ethernet port (10/100Base-T) and two USB ports, one for host, and one for client.
The combination of the TPC Series with thin client software like Microsoft RDP makes it possible to save costs when implementing interfaces in the field. The computer can be used to provide decentralised interfaces to control local as well as external processes.
The TPC-66S is primarily engineered for system control interfaces, such as those found in machine automation, intelligent transport systems (ITS), and food industries or compact industrial interface is needed.
