Siemens Automation and Drives is adding a new 154-8 CPU interface module to the Simatic ET 200pro distributed I/O system. This new CPU is program-compatible with the S7-300 range and has improved backup performance. The module has two communication interfaces: one combined MPI/Profibus DP interface and one Profinet interface with three ports. The module can be used on Profibus as a master or slave and on Profinet as a controller. Thanks to open Ethernet communication and isochronous mode on Profibus, the 154-8 CPU interface module provides reliable and high-speed data exchange. It supports time-of-day synchronisation via Ethernet and web server functionality for information transfer, status and diagnostics.
