Synopsis of CitectSCADA Reports v4

February 2007 SCADA/HMI

CitectSCADA Reports v4 combines the openness that an embedded MS SQL Server provides, with powerful performance to deliver an accessible, easy-to-use and secure reporting tool that lowers total cost of ownership.

Used by the majority of blue chip companies, the MS SQL server is an industry standard for data storing and exchange. SQL reports are commonly used because they integrate data from multiple, disparate areas of the business and present it as meaningful, easy to understand information that is used by senior management.

Built on MS SQL Server 2005, CitectSCADA Reports is an off-the-shelf solution that seamlessly collects, historises and delivers reporting data from a wide range of plant control systems. This information is available to compare simultaneous production across multiple production lines or provide reports on a single product as it passes through the different process stages. Combining all the features expected of a state-of-the-art reporting technology, CitectSCADA Reports can accurately record changes in control system variables at rates of up to 100 000 changes per second.

CitectSCADA Reports then delivers high speed, high integrity production reporting. While other systems require proprietary reporting software, this system's reports are directly accessible through commonly used business tools, such as MS Excel and Reporting Services. The system bridges the plant-to-business divide with technology endorsed by IT, plant and corporate managers alike, allowing them to create and access scheduled or ad hoc reports without the overheads of mastering and maintaining a proprietary reporting solution. Users can visualise data from multiple scada systems in web browser; analyse this data with MS Excel; transfer data between control systems and MS SQL or Oracle databases, historise all control system data into MS SQL Server 2005 and report using industry standard reporting tools. Archive trees and plant hierarchies also allow the user to access data at the appropriate level so managers can access summary reports rather than volumes of extensive data.

Open standards, familiar technology and user interface, and secure reporting, make doing business easier and more cost effective with CitectSCADA Reports. In addition, version 4 offers powerful performance with high data integrity, fast active data transfer rates and changes per second and unrivalled functionality. For example, queries can be made by time or variable such as operator, shift, product, batch, mode, providing upfront realtime analysis of operating conditions as well as analysis of trend information from past records without interfering with the running of the process.

Highly regulated companies such as food and beverage, water and mining will particularly appreciate the online data aggregation feature, which maintains the accuracy and instant accessibility of the data.
