Very few liquid and solids level measuring instruments can provide reliable performance at pressures as high as 400 bar (40 MPa), or in temperatures ranging from -200°C to +400°C - let alone cope with foaming and turbulent surfaces, or meet SIL 2 safety ratings. Now, however, there is a new level measurement instrument that successfully meets all these challenges: the new Levelflex FMP 45 from Endress+Hauser, which has installed more than 36 000 time domain reflectometry (TDR) measuring points worldwide.
This high-temperature, high-pressure guided radar (time domain reflectometry, or 'TDR') instrument boasts record-breaking firsts in safety, performance, certification and ease of set-up. It is available in both rod and rope versions.
The Levelflex FMP 45's unique safety features make it the ideal choice in today's increasingly regulated operating environments. As one of the only guided radar instruments that features secondary gas-tight feed-through, the FMP 45 ensures safety up to 400 bar (40 MPa) in the event of primary sealing failure and complies with the PED-related pressure design guideline 97/23/EG. As one of the only guided radar instruments with an SIL 2 design rating according to IEC 61508, it provides out-of-the-box compliance with EPA requirements for plant safety and emergency shutdown systems. As one of the world's first level measurement instruments with IEC Ex certification, the Levelflex FMP 45 meets the most rigorous regulations for instrumentation in explosion hazard areas.
The Levelflex FMP 45 offers proven reliability in even the most difficult operating conditions - including challenging combinations of foaming, turbulence, product build-up, varying density, varying product properties and irregularly shaped vessels. Few other guided radar instruments operate in such a wide range of temperatures -200°C to 400%deg;C) or pressures (full vacuum to 40 MPa). Its successful operation at 400°C in 300 bar (30 MPa) exceeds the performance of the nearest competitor product.
Endress+Hauser's uniquely user-friendly ToF tool software is provided free of charge with every Levelflex FMP 45 unit. ToF tool enables setup and predictive maintenance to be easily performed either at the four-line, 80-character local display or remotely. Operation is intuitive and straightforward, with plain English text, on-screen help and links. The user simply selects and enters relevant variables from a predefined list that covers all types of process conditions.
