The International Aquatech Innovation Award is granted to the most innovative product or service concept presented at Aquatech Amsterdam 2006. Designed as part of this leading trade exhibition for water technology and management, the award is intended to stimulate functional innovations in the sector. The winner is selected by an international jury of experts.
The jury called WATERFLUX from Krohne “a water meter that represents a revolutionary double solution”. According to the jury: "WATERFLUX 2070 measures water flow using an unencumbered electromagnetic procedure. Contrary to usual methods, there are no obstacles to the water flow, making it possible to measure the flow of liquids with solids in them. Furthermore, the method works even if flow direction is reverted. The truly groundbreaking aspect of WATERFLUX 2070 is its use of wireless SMS or GPRS communication systems to transmit the measurements and the fact that it has a self-sustained battery, making power supply redundant. This allows a meter to be fitted at any plant, distribution network or even consumer's location. Data is received wirelessly at a central office or control room. This system is expected to be applied in numerous different ways in the future."
The entries were judged according to originality, practicality and sustainability.
Aquatech received a record of 90 entries from 81 companies from all around the world including Europe, North America and Asia. Krohne is extremely proud that WATERFLUX has been awarded as overall winner.
