NewElec's 100 M Series motor protection relays are designed for installation inside relatively confined spaces, flameproof enclosures and gate-end boxes to meet very specific protection requirements of coal cutting machinery, underground motors, transformers and their related supply cables.
The 100 M Series provide overload protection for cyclic and sustained overloading conditions and cater for start acceleration times of 2 to 10 s. They have a non-volatile thermal memory calibrated in Starts/Hour (6, 12, 18, or 120) and a thermal memory decay that caters for running and standstill conditions.
Motors and machinery are provided with comprehensive overloading protection, including protection against phase unbalance and loss, even on lightly loaded motors. The relays accommodate, more exactly, the thermal withstand capabilities of the protected motor and provide thermal protection for supply cables, as well as overall short circuit protection.
The 100 M Series relays ensure that the main contactor is not used to clear potentially damaging high-energy faults, and user-friendly labelled setting-up dials indicate motor load, start time and short circuit levels. Panel mounted latched fault diagnostic LEDs identify any fault condition.
With a small 52 x 113 mm footprint, the relays plug into a chassis-mounted 11-pin base for ease of maintenance. The 100M Series is available in amp calibration from 5 to 360 amp split over three models, available in percentage calibration, and they are suitable for auxiliary power supplies of 12, 110 and 220 Volt a.c.
The 100 M Series is suited for general-purpose use with underground motors having safe hot stall times of up to 10 s as well as being suitable for use on motors connected to high inertia loads and starting times of up to 10 s. The relays are ideal for installing into gate-end boxes and flameproof enclosures as well as providing protection for cables and transformers.
