Ex solution for control and automation in zones 1 and 2

October 2006 IS & Ex

Complex processes in the chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas industries call for a constantly increasing number of automated solutions for measuring, control, regulation and visualisation applications. These solutions are required to be flexible, safe and low-maintenance, particularly when applied in potentially explosive areas.

For switching and signalling applications in Ex areas, safety has top priority. Therefore, complete control and switching systems, motors, actuators, pumps, large displays, industrial monitors, measuring and analysis devices for gases and liquids need to be made fit for application requirements in potentially explosive areas.

The pressurised EEX p-cabinet by BARTEC BENKE, the Purging Universal Cabinet, is an innovative Ex solution for the control and automation of devices, machines and systems in zones 1 and 2.

The core of the EEx p-cabinet is a modular APEX 2003 overpressure control, which has been certified in accordance with ATEX. Nn-explosion-proof control and switching devices as well as complete measuring and automation systems can be individually installed in an EEx p-cabinet.

The EEx p-cabinet has been designed for an ambient temperature range between -20°C and +60°C in the temperature class T3 to T5.

For many applications, the pressurised cabinet offers many possibilities. Non-Ex-protected switch and control components, as well as measuring and automation systems can now safely be used in Ex areas. The availability of machines and systems as well as the low maintenance requirements represent further advantages of the EEx p-solution. The Purging Universal Cabinet is available as sheet-steel, stainless-steel, seawater-resistant and tropic-proof versions.
