New combustion training facility

September 2006 Training & Education

The Combustion Group (TCG) recognises the great need for skills training within the combustion industry and is making a significant contribution by establishing its own formal training facility situated at its premises in Edenvale. This training venue is ideally suited for technical training demonstrations which can be held in the outside area adjacent to the buildings. AJ De Wet of the Gas Academy together with TCG are currently engaged in a pilot project with the running of Gas Installer training at TCG's new training facility. Government compliance requires all persons who work with gas systems to be licensed. This training includes aspects on SANS 10087-1:2004, SANS 10087-3:2004, Occupational Health and Safety Act, piping and fittings for gas, gasmeters, gas cylinders, gas manifolds, and gas regulators. The training being offered is approved by the LPGASA.

Debbie De Wit, education and training consultant at TCG, and Tony Kilbee, technical director of TCG, are currently representing the organisation at the work group established for the development of a national qualification for gas installers funded by the CHIETA SETA.
