Electromagnetic flowmeters tailored for paper industry

August 2006 Flow Measurement & Control

Krohne supplies the Optiflux electromagnetic flowmeter that is specifically designed for the paper industry. This product covers all applications in the paper industry, from additive measurement right through to recovered paper reject, with just one converter. This means that there is no need for special types of EMF, even for complex measuring points, thus simplifying plant design, training and spares inventory.

This product is tailored to the needs of the paper industry: it has convinced users by virtue of its single converter for all sensors, its unique 3 x 100% diagnostics and consequently the fact that it does not require regular maintenance.

Optiflux's 3 x 100% diagnostics function is divided into the standard instrument diagnostics, to which Krohne has added a complete application diagnostics function and an accuracy and linearity test (out-of-spec diagnostics). This provides the user with reliable information about the instrument condition, the quality of the measurement as well as any application faults. With its 3 x 100% diagnostics, this product not only offers much greater reliability than any appliance with a SIL2 certificate, but it also exceeds the VDI/VDE/NAMUR-2650 specifications. The 3 x 100% diagnostics function guarantees the user high availability of the system and allows malfunctions to be diagnosed early on so that maintenance measures to be initiated to prevent production downtime.

Optiflux's measuring performance in conjunction with the new diagnostic functions is particularly effective where electromagnetic flowmeters, and consequently users, faced problems in the past. These problems are typically measurements with minimal conductivity, rapid changes of media and media with a high solid content.
