Hydraulic safety life-line cable cutter

July 2006 Pneumatics & Hydraulics

Haupa's hydraulic Safety Life-Line cable cutter is designed for cutting low and medium voltage cables up to 60 kV AC. For use under live conditions according to VDE 0105, the cable cutter has been awarded the GS safety mark of approval. The device allows the operator to cut through live cables without injury. The operator is not in any danger, even when cutting live cables accidentally.

With a cutting range of up to 90 mm diameter, the hydraulic cable cutter is supplied with a 10 m long high-pressure hydraulic hose with a leak-free coupling system and an earth harness according to EN 50340. The hose connects the double piston foot-operated pump to the cutting head, and guarantees the highest standard of safety due to its special insulating features. As the cutting head is generally not visible when cutting cable, the cutting process can be controlled by monitoring the pressure gauge that is attached to the pump. This cable cutting process has been successfully and repeatedly tested in medium voltage applications with live cables, and has gained international approval.

Haupa is represented locally by Surgetek.
