New process controller in the classical format

May 2006 PLCs, DCSs & Controllers

With the new KS 92-1 industrial and process controller, PMA presents an additional high-performance member of the Blueport range in the classical 1/4 DIN format. The comprehensive functionality of the KS 90-1 and KS 90-1 programmer are now also available in the 96 x 96 mm front format. An extra large display with the sharp 'day and night' technology ensures safe reading and operation on-site. Moreover, an integral bar graph visualises the output value.

Its high input scan rate, and very short actuating pulses make the universal KS 92-1 a suitable choice for fast loops, eg, with IR heaters. Individual configuration and parameter settings from the BlueControl Engineering Tool are downloaded conveniently via the controller's front interface. The PID control parameters are determined automatically. Similarly, the BluePort front interface can be used to connect PMA Tune, the self-tuning package that has meanwhile made a name for itself for handling even the most difficult control loops.

Thanks to the universal analog and digital inputs/outputs, the controller can be implemented in numerous applications, whereby the standalone function also performs typical PLC interlocking and sequencing tasks. With 3-point stepping versions, the integrated DAC function monitors the operation of actuators. Direct links to fieldbus networks are possible via ModBus RTU. When connected as a ModBus master, the KS 92-1 is able to transfer eg, set-point shifts and output limits (override control) to the slave controllers, as well as adapting limit value settings and control parameters. This modern process controller from PMA considerably expands the range of possible measurement and control solutions for general industrial applications.
