Thermal meters for gas flow measurement

April 2006 Flow Measurement & Control

Endress+Hauser has announced the launch of the Proline t-mass 65 thermal meter for gas mass flow measurement. The Proline t-mass 65 is a heavy duty, high performance thermal mass flowmeter, designed to measure most industrial gases. It is available in flanged or insertion construction.

Designed, manufactured, and calibrated in the Endress+Hauser Product Centre in Switzerland, the Proline t-mass 65 is ideal for low pressure applications with wide measuring turn down requirements and velocities as low as 0,2 m/sec.

It can be used in typical applications such as high and low level alarms, flow monitoring arms, ventilation and cooling systems control, pump protection, and leakage flow detection. The Integral gas engine design allows users to select and programme from a list of 20 single industrial gases or in the case of biogas, the creation of gas mixtures.

Key features of the Proline t-mass 65 include flexible programming of the process gas or gas mixture and mass flow or normalised volume flow and gas temperature output. The flowmeters also offer dynamic temperature compensation and field verification and diagnostics.

The product can be pre-configured to meet specific application requirements. Each sensor is provided with a traceable calibration certification. Calibration is performed using air on a state of the art calibration rig in line with national standards. Accredited by METAS, the rig uses a range of critical nozzles, rotary piston and turbine reference meters to achieve a mass flow range in air from 0,2 kg/hr to 10 000 kg/hr with an overall uncertainty of 0,3%.

To support continued development of the thermal product range, Endress+Hauser has commissioned a new state of the art gas calibration centre in Reinach, Switzerland.
