Wonderware achieves SAP NetWeaver status

April 2006 News

Wonderware, a business unit of Invensys Systems, has announced at the ARC 'Next Generation Manufacturing Forum' the achievement of 'Powered by SAP NetWeaver' certification status, a further step in aligning with SAP's vision for adaptive manufacturing.

Solutions certified for integration with the SAP NetWeaver platform enable tighter alignment of business processes defined in SAP solutions, operational execution and performance analysis of plant-floor activities. In this way, customers can link plant-floor information with the SAP manufacturing intelligence dashboards of the mySAP ERP solution, thereby delivering critical intelligence via alerts, reports and key performance indicators for realtime decision-making.

The integration solution works with customers' existing plant automation and system investments by leveraging Invensys' ArchestrA open integration software architecture, along with Wonderware's powerful plant historian, analysis client tools and Microsoft SQL Server.

Personnel at customer sites can identify manufacturing production deviations in realtime and receive detailed information related to the business and financial impact. Moreover, they can manage workflows to resolve issues rapidly and cost-effectively.

"The ability to seamlessly link operational and business processes has been the dream of manufacturers for decades," says Justin Tweedie, MD of Futuristix, a member of the EOH group of companies and sole SA distributor for the Wonderware range of industrial automation and MES solutions. "Today, the combination of standards such as ISA-95, the implementation of certain Microsoft initiatives and the collaboration between SAP and Wonderware in both these areas has made this dream a reality." The Wonderware business unit is currently involved in multiplant rollout projects of these new integration solutions at major customers in different areas.
