Early adoption of visual studio 2005

Citect recently announced its early adoption of Visual Studio 2005, the latest Microsoft development technology recently launched in Australia. Citect has adopted Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 in the development of its new version of CitectSCADA software.

Citect was one of the early pioneers in Australia to participate in the Visual Studio 2005 Ascend Program for the development of its CitectSCADA software. This program allows participants to develop software using Visual Studio 2005 ahead of the market and in parallel with Microsoft's development of the tools.

"Visual Studio 2005 helped ensure the quality of CitectSCADA development with stricter compilation checks and higher compliance with C++ standard. The development productivity is enhanced through improved integration of tools as well as MSBuild which is now much easier to maintain," says Stephen Flannigan, Citect's global director, scada.

"Microsoft appreciates Citect's participation in the Visual Studio 2005 Ascend Program," says Finula Crowe, product marketing manager, Developer Tools, Microsoft Australia. "The input from the program contributes significantly in the development process of Visual Studio 2005. Now developers and development teams, including Citect, are able to build high-performance, security-enhanced and reliable solutions using an enterprise-ready development platform."

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 was launched in November 2005. Citect's latest version of CitectSCADA Version 6.1 was developed using Visual Studio 2005.
