Elquip Solutions to distribute Lamina Technologies
April 2006
News
Elquip Solutions, a leading importer and distributor of high-end automation products and capital equipment in South Africa, has announced that from March 2006 it will be the sole local distributor for Lamina Technologies.
Lamina Technologies is a Swiss producer of state-of-the-art milling and turning inserts. The inserts are made from finely machined sub-micron grades with a PDV coating. What makes them unique is that they are designed using a multimaterial concept. What differentiates this multimaterial concept from a general purpose insert is that every insert is well suited to steel, stainless steel, cast iron and even exotic materials like Inconel and Titanium-based alloys.
"By introducing the Lamina range to the South African machine tool market, we are providing a product that will reduce machinery idle time, search time for stock, and the accumulation of obsolete stock," says Mike Cronin, managing director and owner of Elquip Solutions.
He continues: "These inserts cut well, allow for reduction in machine power consumption, have a high level of surface finish and demonstrate consistent characteristics from batch to batch. Taking all these factors into account, the attendant financial benefits are immediately obvious. This is a significantly reduced range that can still fulfil all the functions that would previously have required hundreds, if not thousands, of different types of inserts." Lamina Technologies' products will fit the cutters and tool holders that companies already have, so there is no other investment that needs to be made.
