Celesco's MT3A position transducer is suitable for making linear measurements in challenging test environments where compact size, flexible mounting, high-velocity, and water resistance may be required. Rated IP67, the MT3A is capable of being fully submersed underwater due to its waterproof design, thereby differentiating it from the MT2A design. A common successful application for the MT3A unit is for automotive suspension testing - a challenging application.
The MT3A is available in 76, 228, 380 and 760 mm ranges; the unit's miniature size makes it suitable for restricted space applications. A flexible 2-axis, 360° rotating mounting bracket ensures ease-of-installation for those hard to reach testing and positioning circumstances. The unit's high spring tension provides good performance during high velocities and high accelerations of up to 47 Gs.
Originally designed for the rigors of military use, the MT3A is capable of withstanding environmental abuse due to its integral O-ring seals that protect the unit from the harmful effects of water splash, moisture spray, and chemical exposure.
These features make the MT3A a good choice for automotive crash and performance tests, drop tests, oscillating OEM equipment, and other high speed applications where moisture may be a concern. The 'M' series of position transducer has also been successfully implemented in aerospace applications: one common example would be landing gear testing for a major manufacturer.
