Fisher's Design GX meets the requirements of both ANSI and EN standards. The valve body covers eight sizes between ½-inch and 6-inch (DN 15 and DN 150) and pressure classes are available in Class 150/300 (PN 10-40.) The engineered flow passages within the GX valve body provide optimal capacity and create a stable flow pattern for smooth operation in every valve size. A carefully selected line-up of valve body and trim materials means users can apply the GX to a wide range of service situations. Carbon and stainless steels are GX standards along with a choice of several alloys for more corrosive applications. Metal-to-metal seating is standard, with options including PTFE soft seating for Class VI shutoff and hardened trim with Stellite overlay for erosive applications. Live-loaded PTFE V-ring stem packing is standard. Graphite-based packing and an extension bonnet are available for temperatures up to 371°C.
Actuator sizing and selection is determined automatically by the valve body configuration. No extra engineering is required. The GX actuator controls up to 5,1 MPa pressure drop. Its multispring design is field-reversible from spring-open to spring-close action without needing extra parts.
The valve can be used for either throttling or on-off control, with or without a positioner. Digital and analog positioners can be specified, as well as auxiliary solenoids, limit switches and other accessories. Compatible with the NAMUR (IEC 60534-6-1) mounting standard, the GX capitalises on the power of digital technology when supplied with the integrally mounted DVC2000 Fieldvue digital valve controller. The predictive intelligence from the valve controller powers Emerson's PlantWeb digital plant architecture. While the control valve is operating, critical valve performance information is available to evaluate and make decisions regarding the health of the entire control valve assembly. Information is communicated via AMS ValveLink software or directly to the process automation system. The appropriate personnel view a red-yellow-green snapshot and recommendations on how to correct any problems identified, avoiding unplanned shutdowns.
Fisher's GX is available in South Africa from Alpret Control Specialists, which also offers control valve sizing and selection training.
