UniTemp now open for calibrations

February 2006 News

UniTemp has launched a calibration lab in response to the demand for this service. Regulations regarding health and the environment are becoming more stringent. In order to meet local and export standards it is essential that industrial instruments are calibrated, and that the calibration may be traced to an internationally accepted system of standards.

Calibration, qualification and validation of industrial equipment assist in increasing companies manufacturing quality. For this reason, different rules and regulations in accordance with ISO and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) require that test equipment is managed and monitored on a regular basis. In the food industry HACCP regulations require a 12 month recalibration period on all temperature measuring devices.

UniTemp has been working closely with world-renowned partner, testo, to establish a professional, internationally accredited calibration operation. testo industrial services representatives visited UniTemp in Cape Town for a week in November 2005 to help set up and authorise a calibration laboratory.

UniTemp is now an officially authorised calibration laboratory for temperature and humidity and is able to issue ISO calibration certificates. Its calibration ranges are -25 to 200°C for temperature and logger equipment and 11,3%RH to 75,3%RH for humidity probes.

UniTemp is very excited about the fact it is now able to offer an extra value added service to its clients and plan on extending the laboratory over the next few years by adding more parameters (such as flue gas and velocity) and measuring ranges.
