Training goes to the rock-face

January 2006 News

CBI recently took a group of its Business Development trainees from Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Johannesburg on a field trip to see and experience, at first hand, the situations and conditions under which CBI's products are used.

In addition to their 1,5 km deep underground visit to an AngloGold Ashanti gold mine, a first for them all, they also visited a Stilfontein board manufacturer that supplies boards for airconditioning, compressors and transformers.

This 'hands on' experience is part of an intensive technical training course that CBI's Business Development trainees, all of whom are qualified technicians, undergo. This course includes technical presentations by CBI's top experts in the technical and product application fields and at the end of each week the trainees are tested on the topics that have been covered.

According to CBI's Karen Heitmuller, this training forms part of CBI's drive to help improve and widen technical education in South Africa.
