The OLR 8 Series from NewElec are single-purpose relays designed to monitor one phase of the main motor circuit to provide excellent running stall (jam) protection for selected applications. The OLR 8 Series prevents costly downtimes due to impact torque conditions that result in broken conveyor belts, snapped chains, coupling failures, or even broken gearboxes.
The OLR 8 relays feature an easy to set, maximum operational load setting dial that is calibrated from 30-120% of the primary current transformer used to monitor the load, and a trip delay setting dial calibrated from 1 to 10 s. The relay is equipped with one main trip changeover contact as well as one instantaneous conditional changeover contact. The relay can be used in conjunction with any current range as an alarm/trip or current regulating unit.
The relay has a small surface mounted footprint of 52x102 mm incorporating an 11-pin plug-in base and is fitted with three LEDs which signal 'power on', 'overload' and 'trip' conditions. An additional feature allows for either automatic or manual only resetting options. The relay provides accuracy as well as repeatability in performance.
