Flow Measurement & Control

Low volume rotating vane flowmeter

August 2005 Flow Measurement & Control

Imported from the German manufacturer, Kobold, Instrotech is offering the DPL range of flowmeters to measure and monitor liquids.

All the parts that come into contact with the medium are manufactured from non-metallic materials making the DPL suitable for use in aggressive media. Areas of applications include low viscosity liquids, non-conductive liquids, volume dosing with external electronics, filter aid and the beverage industry. The DPL is compact in design, suitable for use in equipment where space is at a premium.

The medium flows through a specially shaped flow housing and causes a vane to rotate. This rotary motion is sensed by a non-contact optoelectronic arrangement and converted to an asymmetric frequency signal or an analog signal. A frequency divider with symmetrical output is available as an option. The frequency is proportional to the flow velocity. The vane has a sapphire bearing: this ensures a high degree of linearity, at ±1% of full scale, and long service life.

Measuring ranges are from 0,025-0,5 and extend up to 1-25 l/min water. Maximum operating pressure is 1 MPa and the DPL operates in medium temperatures of -40 to +70°C. Two versions can be supplied: the standard Model DPL, and type with plug on display.
